How AI agents are quietly taking over back-office work

The most valuable AI projects we ship are not chatbots on a homepage. They are agents that read, route and update records so your team never has to.

When people picture AI in a business, they picture a chatbot. In our projects, the biggest returns come from somewhere less visible: the back office. Lead routing, document handling, status updates and reporting are repetitive, rule-heavy and full of small decisions, which is exactly where today's AI agents do well.

What an agent actually does

An agent is a model with access to tools: your CRM, inbox, spreadsheets or database. Given a goal, it decides which tool to call, reads the result and keeps going until the work is done or it needs a human. A well-scoped agent might read an incoming enquiry, look the company up, score it, create the CRM record and hand the hot ones to sales, all in seconds.

  • Lead intake: enrich, score and route every new enquiry.
  • Documents: pull fields from invoices, IDs or résumés and file them.
  • Operations: update shipment, booking or order statuses across systems.
  • Reporting: assemble the weekly numbers before anyone asks.

Where teams go wrong

Most failed AI projects try to automate everything at once. We start with one workflow that is frequent, well understood and easy to measure. We keep a human approval step until the agent's decisions match the team's, then remove it. Every action is logged, so you can always see what the agent did and why.

Getting started

Pick the task your team complains about most, write down how a good employee does it today, and that is your first agent's job description. If you would like a second opinion on which workflow to automate first, we are happy to look at it with you.
